5rd BALKAN PHYSICS OLYMPIAD 2023<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Based on an initiative of the Balkan Physics Union Council taken in 2018, the first edition of a new competition in Physics addressed to the high school students was launched in 2019: the Balkan Physics Olympiad \u2013 BPO. The first edition was held in Thessaloniki (Greece) in July 2019.<\/p>

The BPO5 <\/strong>competition\u00a0will be held from June 23rd<\/sup> to June 25th<\/sup> 2023<\/strong>, at the “Turgut Ozal” High School in Durres<\/strong>. The main organizer of this edition is the Union of Albanian Physicists (UAP)<\/strong>, under the auspices of the Balkan Physical Union (BPU)<\/strong> and with the financial support of the European Physical Society (EPS)<\/strong>. The countries can opt for an onsite or online participation.<\/p>

DETAILS ON THE COMPETITION<\/strong><\/p>

  • Each country will be represented by a team composed by up to 4 high school students, born after January 1st<\/sup>, 2006.<\/li>
  • The BPU member countries can officially participate in the contest. Those are: Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Greece, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Turkey. Other countries may also be invited as guest countries.<\/li>
  • The contest will consist in a unique test with 4 problems.<\/li><\/ul>

    IMPORTANT DATES:<\/strong><\/p>

    • May 31st<\/sup>, 2023
      • Final announcement on the form of participation (onsite or online), as well as of the names and the contact details for students, leader, deputy leader, and member of the Scientific Committee (SC).<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
      • June 22
        • Arrival of the SC in Tirana.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
        • June 23
          • Arrival of the other participants: students, leaders, deputy leaders.<\/li>
          • Meeting of the SC – at 10:00 (local time)<\/li>
          • Opening Ceremony – at 20:00 (local time)<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
          • June 24
            • The 4-hour written test – from 9:00 to 13:00 (local time)<\/li>
            • Evaluation of the test – from 14:00 (local time)<\/li>
            • Social program for students\/ Excursion\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 – from 14:00 (local time)<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
            • June 25
              • Moderation – from 9:00 to 12:00 (local time)<\/li>
